About Rob Ellis and Ellis Tech

Complicated professional work, turned into systems people can trust.

Rob takes complicated professional work, figures out how it actually operates, and turns it into systems that people can understand, trust, implement, and use. That's the common thread in everything Ellis Tech does.

01 Background

Three disciplines that rarely sit together.

For roughly a decade, Rob has worked in enterprise presales and solutions engineering, including at the principal level. The job is discovery: understanding how a complex organization really operates, translating messy business requirements into technical architecture, and helping stakeholders see what will and won't work before anyone commits.

He's also a practicing Maryland estate-planning attorney who owns and operates his own practice. That means living with the reality of knowledge work every day: intake, drafting, follow-up, deadlines, and the steady drag of information spread across too many places.

When capable AI arrived, he didn't treat it as another software category. He applied the same discovery and architecture discipline to professional workflows, starting with his own practice. What worked, what didn't, and why became the basis for Ellis Tech.

02 The approach

Judgment first, technology second.

The scarce thing in AI adoption isn't access to models. It's knowing which work should change, which should stay with a person, and what a workable architecture looks like for a small firm with real constraints.

That's what Ellis Tech sells: workflow architecture, professional judgment, and implementation strategy. AI is often part of the answer. Sometimes it isn't, and saying so is part of the job.

03 Building

Vellor.

Rob is also the builder of Vellor, an AI practice-coordination system for solo estate-planning attorneys, developed from work inside his own practice. It's a separate product with its own site. It's mentioned here because it's evidence of the same discipline: mapping the work first, then designing where AI fits and where the attorney stays in control.

Ellis Tech's audits aren't a route to selling Vellor, and most of the firms the audit is designed for aren't estate-planning practices.

04 Boundaries

Two separate companies.

Ellis Tech LLC provides technology and workflow consulting. It is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Engaging Ellis Tech does not create an attorney-client relationship with Rob Ellis or with Ellis Legal LLC, which is a separate company.

Rob's legal experience informs how Ellis Tech understands professional workflows and their risks. It isn't a legal service, and nothing in an audit is legal advice.
